Due to anticipated crowds for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ home football game against the Southern Jaguars on Saturday, Aug. 30, free parking will be available at many lots and garages on or near the University of Louisiana campus.
The University also will provide free shuttle runs from several locations.
The general public is advised to arrive early for the game, which will begin at 6 p.m. Visitors and Ragin’ Cajuns fans are encouraged to carpool when possible, and to access several free parking lots.
Visitors and fans approaching from the west who exit Interstate 10 at Ambassador Caffery Parkway will be able to park behind South Louisiana Community College, in the lot located near Luke Street. Another option will be behind the Hilton Garden Inn, which is located at 2350 West Congress Street.
Motorists traveling from the east who exit Interstate 10 at West University Avenue or Evangeline Thruway are encouraged to utilize parking along Johnston and St. Landry streets.
Shuttles will start at 10 a.m. and end one hour after the game is over. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at several locations.
Additional parking options include City Hall, Blackham Coliseum, along Coliseum Road, and at the Our Lady of Lourdes hospital property located on St. Landry St., between St. Julien and St. Mary streets.
Free parking will be available at most parking lots on the UL Lafayette main campus. Parking will not be allowed at campus parking towers or at University housing lots.
Parking will also be available at a pay lot located near the LITE Center on Cajundome Boulevard for $10 per vehicle. The lot will open at 4 p.m.
Most parking lots and spaces located at and near Cajun Field, the Cajundome, Bourgeois Hall, and fraternity and sorority rows are reserved.
