Curve balls baffle him... On his last strike-out they came in with a new pitcher... The first pitch was a curve in the dirt that he went after.... The next pitch was a fast ball that he took and was PO'd.. That was his pitch... I knew then the pitcher had him confused and he did...

Is Guillory still hurt? As good of an arm as Griffen has, his bat is a liability. I would like to see Guillory get some at bats.

Guillory got of to a TERRIBLE start at the plate. Like 0-10 with 8 Ks. Hopefully he will get some swings and be able to do some spot duty. Plus Griffen has the second most RBI's on the team, so its not all terrible, but he will always strike out a good bit.

You're right. I forgot how bad of a start Guillory got off to. I would still like to see him get some at bats though.

For someone who swings at EVERYTHING he sure has a lot of walks... Yea I think his 19k's in 55 ab's are bad but lets look at the numbers he has 2nd most RBI's, 3rd highest Slugging PCT, and 3rd highest run total... That's a big part of our offense.

Not to mention he throws out 20% (30% considered excellent) of runners stealing and hasn't made an error.

_ Not sure if I agree. The ball was hit pretty hard, and if he didn't happen to be in it's way, he wouldn't have had a chance on it. It bounced in front of him and took a tall hop. I don't know if there are too many first basemen on any level that could have fielded that ball. Besides, it would have been an E3.


Fontenot and Hicks both had some pretty nice cuts, just were unlucky. You could tell Broussard wasn't going to have a good night after his first couple batters. The rest of the pitching was OK. Wascom played well and Harmon was a bright spot. Offensively, they looked like they did earlier in the year. Griffen's strikeout looked really bad. _

Yeah, I meant E3 my apologies. I assumed it was really bad because if Jay laid blame on a player it was probably pretty bad.

There is a reason the curve ball is known as the great equalizer. It's made more than a few guys bail or get weak kneed.

You're right. It just drives me crazy with all of the strikeouts in key situations, especially when they strike out looking. Let's just hope he continues to improve as a hitter, becuase he certainly has the frame and power.

good news is he is young and will continue to mature as a hitter. Bad news is that he will continue to get pitched harder had harder(more and more sliders and breaking stuff). While I am with you on his defense....outstanding. But that is typical power hitters...its all or nothing. that is what was so amazing about Lucroy.....lots of power, and hit for average. He had a great plan everytime he got to the pate, and executed it well. He knew he was gonna see sliders and breaking balls away AND he hit them. Guess that is why he is playing pro ball!! lol

While I am with you on his defense....outstanding. But that is typical power hitters...its all or nothing. that is what was so amazing about Lucroy.....lots of power, and hit for average. I have no problem with Griff at the plate.... I think he is hitting something like 283 no?? he brings amazing power and the only way to work through the curve ball is to keep trying to hit it... and NO ONE is going to run on him.... I say we stay patient with him

Agreed, although he does need to cut down on his strikeouts. He is way more valuable with his defense. As long as he can hit 250 and be a great catcher that is fine with me!
