The school only has to put down the scholarship players to count for the APR.

It can add walk-ons for GPA purposes but is not required to do so for the APR.

    He is don't you know.
All he has to do is contend for a conference championship next year, and he will be offered a new forever contract.

It is a tough call when you rise to the top because the rest of your league was bad.

    15-15 ??

WKU was bad? Hell, they went to the Sweet 16. USA was bad? They got an at large NCAA invite.

IMO 15 & 15 actually looked good after last season given the young roster we had. The huge stinker in the punch bowl was the Troy game in our final appearance at home in the SBC tourney but certainly we fans were justifiably very optimistic about in the 08-09 preseason.

However, and I say this after taking into account the toll multiple injuries had on us this season, despite the fact we had essentially everyone back plus some impressive looking transfers (at the time) to fill gaps, it simply never, ever came together.

My bad, I thought UL and WKU were in separate divisions.

We are in a separate division from WKU. We are in the same conference however.

And he was rewarded for winning a division championship not a Conference Championship. No reason to bring WKU into the equation, they only factored into 1 UL loss.

How about we reward him based on wins. Pay $10,000 salary for each D-1 win. A "bonus" for winning the conference (let's say $20,000), and then $20,000 for each NCAA tournament win. You want to throw in cash for NIT wins, fine. Bonus for 1000 APR, fine. Now go earn your money coach!

I like it except you can't reward a coach for simply doing an off court job requriment known from day one. I understand the leeway between .925 and 1.000 but really if a coach scores a 1.000 APR he was only doing what he understod was a job requirment.

Still your opening line sounds good "How about we reward him based on wins."

Great idea, but it will never happen.

This is the reason I have soo much more respect for athletes like golfers and tennis players. If you don't win, you don't get paid.
