Also, VObserver, you had to feel pretty comfortable with his pocket presence. The only times he ran were on designed runs for the most part. He did as well as any QB at stepping up in the pocket to give his receivers time to get open. Its not like Gautier ran it 75% of the time. Plus, did he even have an incompletion besides a drop on the far sideline.

He is not 4th string either. You cant go strictly by that first half of the scrimmage. Gautier was the 2nd QB in the 2nd half if I remember correctly, maybe 3rd.

I dont mind him learning either, but I think we can be very dangerous with him coming in for certain situations. 3rd and short is cake for this kid. He would give defenses nightmares having to prepare for both him and McGuire. _
Please don't think I am arguing AGAINST Gauthier. I think it's great that we are in a position where a guy with his talent is #3 or #4 on the depth chart. I'd be glad if we had enough depth to have him at #2 on the chart, And if he were #1, I'd be glad we have him. I am just of the opinion that McGuire brings more to the table. My opinion and $10 will get me a seat in the upper deck to watch Cajun games. So will yours. But we're all Cajun fans here, and I think we can agree that things look promising for the future of the team [at least at the QB position].

Gauthier still needs some work as a passer. He has a cannon, but he needs to learn how to put some touch on the ball. He will be a good one, but McGuire is the better QB at this point in time.

Good! It is decided. McGuire will be our QB and Gauthier will be out Tim Tebow circa. 2006. Get Bustle on the horn and tell him RP has sorted the offense out for him.

But, but, I thought #7 looked very good in the pocket as well, #13 threw the prettiest ball out of all the QB's, and #11 needs to run our Wild Cajun if there is such a thing...

White to other positions, as both are athletes that need to be contributing something in games. _

First of all, he is a much better passer than Vick. Second, he is NOT behind Brady Thomas. I'm not sure if you were at the fall scrimmage last fall but if you were, you would have seen him go perfect passing, about 50 yards or so running with a total of 3 or so scores and much of that was against the red D. I'm simply predicting that he will be starting. If you don't agree, that is fine but I just feel like he makes more plays than McGuire and has more upside than any of our QB's. I've just got this gut feeling like he is a guy that is going to be hard to keep off the field. He has high character and a good football I.Q.

I do not know that he is behind Thomas; I only know that Thomas ran his series Saturday before Gauthier did. I had assumed that the QB's made their appearances in the same order thay occupy on the depth chart.

No need to be so sensative, Zepher, it's not like I'm saying he's horrible.

Not sensitive at all if that is how I made it appear, I apologize. I'm just not as sold on McGuire as a lot of other people are. I think he is solid but I think Gautier is more of a playmaker.

Here is my theory on the matter, if 4 QB's can perform well enough to play then maybe they should do just that...

Nobody was head and shoulders above the rest and the real beauty is that none of them are alike. What a great problem to have...

You are correct. I, however, have never been a big fan of the multiple QB philosophy because that position relies a bit on rhythm and its hard to get into one when you are constantly shuffling in and out new QB's. I am pretty confident that Thomas will in no way factor into the equation at all once fall camp arrives and things get more real. However, you are correct in that none seemed to really be that much ahead of the others. I'd like to see Gautier run a bit more against the Red Defense just to better gauge what his progress has been.

Everybody was impressed with the RB's but I came away with a slightly different thought. While I know that it was a spring scrimmage and Booker and Walker really haven't seen much of that type of situation yet since they were redshirted last year, they didn't knock my socks off with any specific plays. They were both pretty solid in pass blocking schemes, something that kind of hurt Yobes last year and they seemed to run hard but they didn't put together any real nice runs. A lot of that had to do with the D as we know it will be far ahead of the offense at this point but I'm sure they'll improve a ton as the spring and fall roll through.
