Thread: Cajun Forever Orlando Thomas, Wife Continue Battling ALS

  1. Default Cajun Forever Orlando Thomas, Wife Continue Battling ALS

They ponder what he once was, and how he is now, and the words are forced to fight their way out.

It's just not right, they seem to want to say.

No one should have to deal with what he so courageously does. No one should be so shackled. No one should be put in the position Orlando Thomas – Crowley High product; 6-foot-1, 225-pound former UL and NFL safety – is now.

Buckley is at his best when he is writing about the best.

I wonder what it would cost to get Orlando Thomas an eyeball tracking Microsoft Surface 3 like Steve Gleason has?

I know Microsoft has a Kinect System they are coming out with soon for regular PC computers, I wonder if this could be the affordability threshold, so he can communicate at a level he is comfortable with.

    Thinking of you Orlando.

    Thanks Buckley

Current tech, but they are making strides by leaps and bounds, I hope it is fast enough for Orlando and affordable.

I say this because the article also said:

"Orlando still plays cards with his eyes"

"So they communicate, and she translates, via eye-blinks. She rattles off letters of the alphabet, he blinks when she arrives at the one he wants. She then turns letters into words, and words into sentences."
This non deteriorating ability is exactly what the Microsoft system that Steve Gleason is using takes advantage of.
