Does anyone else think Farmer might not be here much longer?
I don't think this is what he signed up for.

See that is a very valid point. That is really the best argument that I see on the other side of APR stuff.
Like I said in the BEV thread, there's 2 sides:
APR risks - perhaps we aren't close to the edge, maybe we are and possibly lose players if Lee is fired and in turn, all of our sports suffer for many years to come
Financial - Cost of buyout, new coach's salary vs Losses in season tickets, supports, concessions, etc.
From the decision they made they are saying:
APR - Risk is high if we fire a coach so we keep Lee
Financial - While it will be expensive to fire and buyout, the costs faced due to loss in support at games is probably higher, but do not overcome the possibility of academic issues. Then again, maybe its more to fire and we need to keep him and save some money. IDK?
This is clearly a CYA move by the Athletic Department. What's more year of futility in basketball if it risks bowl games, post season tournaments for non-football programs and subsequent national recognition, etc? Besides, if post season tournaments means what I think it means, that includes eliminating the possibility for even a SBC title for any sport.
Of course, this is all (to quote Jim Rome) ALLEGEDLY because of APR. God help us if this is truly a vote of confidence in their ability to coach.
Ahh, time to clear the head and go home then to the Tigue to go have a beer and watch our next coach on the proverbial "hot seat." :rolls eyes:
I think the worst part of this is that the athletic department felt like they had to make an announcement saying that two coaches who were under contract will indeed be back.
Either fire them, or don't. This seems half-way. It sends the message "we wanted to fire him, but we couldn't." If they really wanted Lee back next year, this announcement never would have happened. You don't make press announcements to address the whining of fans on message boards.
This is bush league. Bad bush league. But David Walker doesn't get that.
I will not follow Cajun basketball until Lee is gone. First time I have not been loyal follower since 8 years old. Next year I don't even plan to look at a score. It is as if the program does not exist in my eyes. Sorry, but that is how I feel. Just one person, but imagine there are others that feel same. I will rejoin the ranks of Cajun basketball fans when Lee is gone. I will still follow football, baseball, softball...
will cajuns basketball average 1000 fans per game next year? unlikely. I hope the fans stay away by the masses. Just like the conference tourney game, a post season game, where only a very sparse crowd showed up. The long time tradition rich and successful cajuns basketball program is on vacation and has been on vacation for the past few years. Not sure it will ever get back on track. One coach and a stubborn and cheap administration ran decades of success into the ground, in a few short years. This decision to retain Lee might as well be the death penalty for the program, at least with regards to fans ever believing it will strive to compete at a high level. There is no other program in the country, anywhere, where a coach with Lee's win loss record and lack of direction, combined with past succcess before he became coach, would still be around.
