After thinking about it for a little while, I think the main issue was that if Lee was fired, then we are taking a chance that players will leave. If that occurred there would be a significant possibility that the APR would not be good enough. If this were the case, every sport would be banned from post-season play. This would set us back 10 years at a minimum, IMO, in every aspect (recruiting, income, fan-base.)
I do understand why this decision was made. I think it would be much more of a risk to fire Lee and get close to a penalty, than in the other case, to go through another year (yes I know its another whole year) and replace Lee with a new coach.
It was a tough decision, but you have to look at it from both sides. I didnt even mention the financials, which may or may not have played a huge factor in this decision.
Again, I dont know how close we are to being under the necessary APR, but I understand it as a factor.
That being said, it will be damn near unbearable to watch another season as bad as this.
Rome is burning........
Tacitus, Annals XV
… A disaster followed, whether accidental or treacherously contrived by the emperor, is uncertain, as authors have given both accounts, worse, however, and more dreadful than any which have ever happened to this city by the violence of fire....
.... The blaze in its fury ran first through the level portions of the city, then rising to the hills, while it again devastated every place below them, it outstripped all preventive measures; so rapid was the mischief and so completely at its mercy the city, with those narrow winding passages and irregular streets, which characterised old Rome
While Nero fiddles....
Believe me, I totally understand, I just dont know if you take the risk and it goes bad and we cant go to the WCWS in softball or a regional in baseball or a bowl in football because of one more season of Lee.
Just weighing the options, its not a clear cut decision. I'm a little p****d off, but I'll get over it. I know plenty of you will bring up the other failures of this athletic dept, but I'm not going to add on the other issues to this, but that's just my opinion. I understand why most of you are furious.
This isn't hard folks.
Hire a coach who can recruit/re-recruit, keep one particular assistant and you have zero attrition and a perfect APR.

Seriously why are we even shocked by this? The faces in Martin Hall may have changed but the philosophy is still the same.
I just sent my email to DW and scott
I have emailed Dr. Savoie, Walker, Farmer, and the DA twice. Look I understand this whole APR thing. The bottom line is this is all happening under David Walkers watch. They have run this whole 3 ring circus into the ground.
It's not like we aren't still getting juco players, didn't we just get a few kids that played at a whole bunch of previous schools. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but; I remember hearing about players getting in Lee's grill and walking out of practice. Yesterday it sounded like the only chance Lee had to stay was due to $$$$money$$$$$, not his loyal players threatening to jump ship.
