I have emailed Dr. Savoie, Walker, Farmer, and the DA twice. Look I understand this whole APR thing. The bottom line is this is all happening under David Walkers watch. They have run this whole 3 ring circus into the ground.
It's not like we aren't still getting juco players, didn't we just get a few kids that played at a whole bunch of previous schools. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but; I remember hearing about players getting in Lee's grill and walking out of practice. Yesterday it sounded like the only chance Lee had to stay was due to $$$$money$$$$$, not his loyal players threatening to jump ship.
Does anyone else think Farmer might not be here much longer?
I don't think this is what he signed up for.
See that is a very valid point. That is really the best argument that I see on the other side of APR stuff.
Like I said in the BEV thread, there's 2 sides:
APR risks - perhaps we aren't close to the edge, maybe we are and possibly lose players if Lee is fired and in turn, all of our sports suffer for many years to come
Financial - Cost of buyout, new coach's salary vs Losses in season tickets, supports, concessions, etc.
From the decision they made they are saying:
APR - Risk is high if we fire a coach so we keep Lee
Financial - While it will be expensive to fire and buyout, the costs faced due to loss in support at games is probably higher, but do not overcome the possibility of academic issues. Then again, maybe its more to fire and we need to keep him and save some money. IDK?
This is clearly a CYA move by the Athletic Department. What's more year of futility in basketball if it risks bowl games, post season tournaments for non-football programs and subsequent national recognition, etc? Besides, if post season tournaments means what I think it means, that includes eliminating the possibility for even a SBC title for any sport.
Of course, this is all (to quote Jim Rome) ALLEGEDLY because of APR. God help us if this is truly a vote of confidence in their ability to coach.
Ahh, time to clear the head and go home then to the Tigue to go have a beer and watch our next coach on the proverbial "hot seat." :rolls eyes:
