I don't post often but I am compelled to join in on this discussion. Seeing as this dicussion has evolved into more than just baseball memorabilia I'll list those as well. I have a few items mostly Astros' stuff (hence the s/n). Anyways here are a few notables:

Nolan Ryan baseball card from 1968
Jeff Bagwell signed baseball from '91 (rookie year)
    Roy Oswalt signed baseball
    Hunter Pence signed baseball

    Tyrell Fenroy signed helmet

    Hal Sutton signed golf hat

I worked on the field for the Saints black and gold scrimage-which was held at Cajun Field for those who remember back in 2005 or 2006 (I can't remember) and got to meet just about everyone on the team at the time. Got autograhps from Joe Horn, Duce, Mike Fontnot, Aaron Brooks ( *gasp*) lol

Yep. He 1 hit us. The only hit was a solo HR by our pitcher who ended up going as high as AAA with the Cincy organization. Let me tell you, Ryan at 17 or 18 was one scarey dude on the bump. When he turned it loose, only he and God knew where it was going, and I ain't too sure about Nolan.

Track & Field Re: What is your favorite piece of baseball memorabilia that you own?

My mother got a home run ball during one of the Mobile Bears home games in 1947. It was an official league ball that she collected autographs on throughout the 1947 championship season of the Mobile Bears. The Bears were a farm team for the Dodgers and a bunch of the players were at a party together(not sure if it was in 47 or 48), former Bears that had made it up and current Dodgers. This was Jackie Robinson's 1st season.

Autographs included Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Stan Musial, Joe DiMaggio, Paul Minner, George Shuba, Cal Abrams, Chuck "Rifleman" Connors, Cliff Dapper...some I never made out, 19 in all I think.

Sadly, the ball was stolen from me when I lived in Florida 8 years ago, one of a kind...

My husband has a piece of paper autographed by players from the 1954 New York Giants and Cleveland Indians. The Baseball Hall of Fame was able to decipher the following signatures:

Giants: Monte Irvin, Dave Williams, Bobby Hofman, Hank Thompson, Johnny Antonelli, Ray Katt, Willie Mays, Dusty Rhodes, Don Mueller and Fred Fitzsimmons (coach).

Indians: Bob Avila, Dave Pope, Dave Philley, Al Rosen, Early Wynn, Hal Newhouser, Ji Hegan, Dale Mitchell, Same Dente, Bob Hooper, Larry Doby, Dick Tomanek, Al Lopez (mgr), George Strickland, Bob Feller and Luke Easter.

Five of the players are hall of fame members as of 1987. The autographs were probably obtained at an exhibition game played possibly around the New Orleans area and the two teams happened to meet up in the World Series that year.

He missed me. I didn't dig in too much; Nolan wasn't afraid to play a little chin music on you.
