Amen. I expect fuse to be one of the guys down the road, but as far as a Friday starter and top of the lineup guy as a freshman we may be asking too much. Moral of the story is we need the older guys we have to step up. Sometimes it takes someone who has played a day of college baseball in their life to truly understand what is going on. And I also don't agree sczefc is the reason we can't hit, can't pitch, and can't field today.

Just because our team hasn't pitched worth a damn or hit their weight in average doesn't mean someone having a below average year is impressive. No one on this team has shown me anything. I'll be impressed when someone bats 300 and has 10 homeruns and has a sub 3 ERA. And I like how people are still blaming a coach that isn't even here anymore...Ya'll sound like our President. _
They started off hot, but I guess they've dropped off since. I can pick another newcomer like Keefer who's doing well. Overall, the team as a whole is cold at bat.

Griffin has the power, but lacks the discipline and eye. Keifer has the size, but his bat is way to slow. This ain't JUCO anymore. I don't think i've seen him pull a ball yet this year.

Bottom line is, to win in today's college baseball you need some power. _
Oh no, you need great pitching to win in college baseball, not hitting. Well at least that is what they tell me every week about the Cajuns on this board. That and I don't know baseball or I want Robe fired.

You better be careful you might get lumped into the group with me.

Don't get me wrong you can't win if you can keep the other team from scoring, but you also can't win if you cant score.

Our pitching is good enough to win! Our hitting is not!

Oh sorry, Harst is batting .158

I'm glad that Greg Fontenot has put last season behind him and is off to a pretty decent start at the plate, one of our 3 hitters (pathetic) batting over .300. _
I'm not saying he isn't a good hitter, and i'm glad he is doing well, but he was billed as a guy that would hit a lot of homers for us(at least that is what I heard from others). For a guy with his size, he should be producing more power numbers. Maybe he will come around in that category as the year progresses.

Ok. Pick ONE more newcommer that is doing well. Better yet pick one guy period you can say is playing well. Fuse will get the start against UALR this weekend and we will see how he does. Buts let's remember cook and Osborne made Nebraska look like a sunbelt
team... They have had two bad starts against USM who is a great hitting team and FAU which is not a bad hitting team too. I'll see how he does against a team like troy and then I'll tell you what I think then about fuse but I'm not impressed with him at this point.

OK 191 lbs. for the starting line up average. I missed it by 9 lbs. by just looking at the weights. So I added them up so as to satisfy some.

We have had good to great pitching ever since Robe has been here. Problem is we have rarely had a team full of guys who could mash the ball or hit for a very high average.

You can't win on the big stage without hitting. IMO That is why we have not had as much post season success as Rice, Tulane and other mid-majors. We have had the pitching just not the bats.

What's the problem with our pitching this and last year then if we always have good pitching.

I agree with you on the hitting part, but I would say we have had good to very good pitching, not great. Our problem in the pitching department has been with depth. Look at 2002. Once we got past Gabriel and Gros, we didn't have much. Same in 2005 when we went to the Tulane regional. 2007 was the exception, but again, we didn't have the bats to get us out of the regional.
