Well, apparently the school knows what its' name is.......

The State actually does LEGALLY require UL-Lafayette to be named UL-Lafayette. Apparently some ULL fans don't know or intentionally ignore reality. Even the ULM bunch is fed up with ULL's craziness.

It doesn't matter what the "State" calls them in legal documents, no sane writer is ever obliged to use a legal name as an every reference for any entity.
Do you say I'm going do my shopping at "Wal-Mart Stores, Inc." or worse yet "Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Store #1642?
True if you are talking to a confused person you always have the option of drilling down but to use full nomenclature when the subjects are known is the height of silliness.
That article has no credibility, it uses a hyphen to make its point when the State specifically says items 'like' hyphens are not allowed in the full legal name.
For those of us who dislike the way the advocate refers to our school, have you seen the advertiser lately? They have been Lafayetteing us everyday. Case in point today's front page. I think it's coming from Martin hall if you don't believe me go to the red zone and look at the new stuff they are bringing in.
There are definitely some uncreative "UL" haters at Martin Hall.
Why are you concerned with this? Because you are scared ____less over what is happening here. We are using an acronym....Louisiana Ragin Cajuns to refer to our Athletic teams. This has nothing at all to do with the official, proper name of our University which is The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. LSUA&M at Baton Rouge is the Official, formal name of what is referred to as the acronym 'LSU'. that's all. We by law cannot put "Louisiana" at the top of our Diploma. You, by law cannot put 'LSU". Now go sit in your little high and mighty corner and play with yourself. You guys are good at that.
