UPDATE: 10:55 p.m.: Saturday's game, suspended in the ninth with Louisiana trailing FAU 5-3 and no one out, will resume Sunday morning at 9 a.m. where it left off. The game went into a rain delay originally at 3:06 p.m., resumed at 4:20 p.m., reentered a rain delay at 6:06 p.m. and has not since resumed. The decision to suspend the game until Sunday was made by the coaching staffs of both schools and the officiating crew. The early start time was selected because of ongoing concerns over the threat of inclement weather during the playing window on Sunday.
Game 2 of the series will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of today's suspended game. Because of NCAA scheduling rules, which state that no more than two games, in part or in whole, may be played in one day, Game 3 of the series will be canceled.
Tickets for both Friday and Saturday's originally scheduled games will be accepted for Sunday's games. Gates at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field will open at 8 a.m.
UPDATE: 10:10 p.m.: Today's baseball game between the Ragin' Cajuns and FAU will be resumed at 10:50 p.m., as per the decision of both coaching staffs and the officials of the game. At this time, the coaches have agreed to play the remaining games of the series (Games 2 and 3) as a Sunday doubleheader, beginning at 8 a.m. to accomodate both games and the Owls' travel schedule. FAU's return flight to Boca Raton, Fla., is scheduled to depart Lafayette Regional Airport at 5:45 p.m. Sunday. Please continue to check RaginCajuns.com regularly for updates.
UPDATE: 7:44 p.m.: Twice-delayed Game One of Saturday's baseball doubleheader with the FAU Owls has been put under temporary suspension until 10 p.m. Saturday night. At that time, the coaches will meet again to discuss the probability of completing the game tonight. If possible, the teams will take the field to complete the game. If not possible, the teams will decide a further plan of action at that time.
UPDATE: 6:06 p.m.: For the second time in one game, the Cajuns and Owls went into a rain delay. After several wild pitches from the Owls Chris Schmitt allowing a run to score, the coaches and umpires conferred and decided to bring out the tarp with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. Play will resume when the weather permits. The Cajuns coaching staff, at this moment, plan on continuing with game two tonight. Any changes to that plan will be posted immediately on RaginCajuns.com.
UPDATE: 4:20 p.m.: A one hour, 14 minute rain delay has ended and play is underway again at "The Tigue"
UPDATE: 3:06 p.m.: For the second time in as many home weekends, the Ragin' Cajuns are experiencing inclement weather at M.L. "Tigue" Moore, and have entered a rain delay. The delay began at 3:06 p.m. and will conclude as soon as weather permits.
UPDATE: 1:45 p.m.: Saturday's doubleheader has been pushed back by 15 minutes, and is now scheduled for first pitch at 2:15 p.m.
