Thread: BOX LUNCH: UL snatches victory over LSU at Alex Box Stadium

  1. UL Baseball BOX LUNCH: UL snatches victory over LSU at Alex Box Stadium

BATON ROUGE - A substantial downpour failed to spoil LSU's first game against UL in the new Alex Box Stadium.

Heavy rains forced a 58-minute delay in the third inning, but the weather became an afterthought Wednesday for the Cajuns after upsetting the nation's third-ranked team, 10-9.

UL (6-7-1) powered its way to the program's first win over a top-three team since beating No. 1 South Carolina, 3-2, in the 2000 NCAA Super Regional with three home runs.

Looking forward to seeing the long faces on the UL'br fans faces when i get to the office this morning. How does it feel to be the No. 1 team in louisiana this morning?

Chech out the Lake Charles American Press. No mention of UL beating LSU. Not that I am surprised because that paper is LSU first, McNeese second, and when they can blast UL.

I just find it funny that this paper covers multiple LSU stories daily would not put a story anywhere about another state school (who plays their local team in every sport and has good relations) beating LSU who was the #1 ranked team in the nation just last week.

I don't want to be too harsh... but why in the crap do we have to worry about a paper in Lake Charles. You know people... sometimes we are our own worst enemies.

Your right Z most people in Jennings follow the news and paper in Lake Charles although I don't. Lafayette news coverage just doesn't cover Jennings much.

The reason I looked at the Lake Charles American Press was because I was looking forward to the spin that the Lake Charles American Press was going to put on last night game. This particular paper covers LSU more than they cover McNeese, not because they have to, but because they choose to. They must cover McNeese because it is their home town college although often it is not equal coverage. My guess was that the paper was going to give the game a little blurb and hide it somewhere but instead since UL who the paper doesn't like (Mcneese's small man envy), decided to not give the game any coverage. I found it kind of funny and typical. If LSU beats anyone else in the country the paper covers it.

I was in the press box last night and did not see anyone from the Lake Charles newspaper. So it was not a situation where they staffed the game but did not write anything because the Cajuns beat LSU.

Parrott, in my opinion if LSU would have beat UL they would have picked up the AP feed and ran the story. I called earlier today and a guy in the sports department had no answer why they did not run the story. Well I asked him if it will run in tommorow's paper and he turned to someone else in the room and asked "are we running the USL LSU story tommorow" and the answer was NO.

JP, if LSU would have won they'd be running around naked in the KPLC control room. Same thing at the LC paper. Ask Mr Laney how objective a reporter he is/was.
