UL - Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis team stayed perfect at home Wednesday night, with a 5-1 victory over Illinois State. With the win the Cajuns improve their home record to 3-0 and overall record to 5-4. UL got on the scoreboard first by taking the always crucial doubles point.

Louisiana’s Piotr Banas and Piotr Olechowski picked up a doubles win at number one singles 8-6. Neil Schneider and Javier Pulgar won in number three singles position 8-3.

Illinois State’s Michael Hobson and Timon Reichelt gave the Redbirds their only doubles victory with an 8-5 decision over Arlen Domoney and Yanick Mandl.

The Cajuns won four out of the five singles matches that finished, taking home their fifth victory of the year. Picking up the wins for the Cajuns were Banas, Pulgar, Domoney and Mandl.

All four Cajuns won in straight sets.

Banas defeated Reichelt 6-4, 6-0.

Pulgar won his match 6-3, 6-3 over Skip Span.

Domoney beat Daniel Tobar 6-0, 6-3.

Mandl handed Hodson a 6-2, 6-2 loss.

The match between Schneider and Micah LeMoine was not finished. Schneider was down 1-4 in the first set when the match was stopped.

"We have to continue to work hard every day, we can't settle," said head coach Mark Jeffrey after the match. "We have to focus on getting better every day."

Louisiana returns to the court Thursday night for a match with the Troy Trojans. The match begins at 6 p.m. at Cajun Courts. The first fifty people will receive free food from City Club. Fans will also have the chance to win a free racket worth over 200 dollars.
