Look guys, this is the deal.

I want absolutely nothing to interfere with facility improvements and football program improvements. NOTHING.

If our leaders, and BOOSTERS, decide that it is just not financially doable with the Obama Economy right now to buyout a contract AND improve facilities and deal with football issues, then I don't have a problem with it.

I don't mind waiting another year to upgrade the basketball situation if it is in the best interests of the athletic program.

Our focus has to be on Facilities and Football for the forseeable future.

"You realize if Lee is not fired today this web site will blow up. I am cautiously optimistic he will be fired...if he is not I will probably be melting down with all the other posters." Metry

"A server overload the likes which haven't been seen since.... Dec. 2008 and the bowl debacle! We have to fire him. I don't take joy in people losing their jobs, but we have to make a move. Please AD do the right thing"... Cajun Z1

It will be a thing of beauty.
I'll be able to witness the spectacle!

I agree with you, if we were talking about just womens BB, but Men's BB is pretty important. Big money is involved when you consider travel, scheduling, salary's and a huge arena. We cannot let it die on the vine. If we cannot buy out a one year contract worth 150K we are never going to be good at football anyway.

Most of my college friends have ZERO interest in UL athletics. Days like today make me realize they may be on the right path.

Without a doubt the path of least resistance...

One possible benefit to this situation is that other coaches will realize UL is a great place to take a job. All you need to do is sign the contract and not "rock the boat". Even if you lose most of your games and alientate the fan base, it will not matter as long as you still have years remaining on your contract! If you can some how have one good season, then you can get an extension and ensure yourself a couple of more years. You may not make that much at UL, but at least you have job security!

I hate to make this analogy but I will...Do any of you guys think that by keeping under performing coaches on that it gives credence to Baldwins lawsuit? In fairness I don't put Bustle in this category because he has at least made the football program better whereas Lee and Rogers tore them apart.

I think I need to do some clarification.

At the beginning of the basketball season, the sports info department schedules weekly press luncheons. Both Coach Lee and Coach Rogers attend each week.

Those dates are set far in advance, and today's media luncheon wasn't special. It was simply the end of the season luncheon. Because, at the beginning of the season, we didn't know exactly when the season would end, it was scheduled for today, two days after the tournament ended.

I think that the TV folks misled you into thinking that today was gonna be something special. It wasn't meant to be special. Simply the coaches reviewing the season and talking about the offseason.

There was never supposed to be some announcement at this luncheon regarding the job status of either one.

Since the job status is still up in the air, they cancelled the luncheon.

I think that's fair. People are just sick of waiting for everything. Patience is an aggravating virtue.

Here's a thought: I bet if oil was $80/bbl we wouldn't be having this conversation.

The only reason I can think of that Lee would be retained is due to our recent budget constraints (specifically the possibility of a large athletic budget cut).

Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense.
