Thread: Clock is ticking for UL basketball coaches

  1. UL Basketball Clock is ticking for UL basketball coaches

All sides remain silent concerning the future of the head coaches for the UL men's and women's basketball programs.

There is some question about whether men's coach Robert Lee and women's coach Errol Roger will be back next season, but both still held their jobs as of Tuesday night.

UL director of athletics David Walker spent last weekend attending administrative meetings in Hot Springs, Ark., during the early rounds of the Sun Belt Conference tournaments. He was expected to meet with both coaches at some point this week before making a decision.

The folks who do the hiring around here are no doubt the numbest of skulls. We go from a GREAT women's coach in Kelly Hall, who leaves us for the Big East with three starters and 2 thousand point scorers and an RPI in the 30's, to a guy who took that gift and has us back in the 250+ RPI range in one year and 300+ in two.

Now there is talk that that coach will be back next year???? WTF is up with that? I'd rather keep Lee. At least we are in the top 300 with him.

If they keep either of them they will prove to me that this administration is no better than the last. No pursuit of excellence just trying to get by.

I would agree if they kept both. If they kept one, then I would tend to understand given the current economy and bleak economic forecast. However, that is the ONLY reason why I would give them a pass on that one.

If the clock is ticking, it's barely ticking and the battery needs changing.

C'mon David, after an abysmal roundball season like this, it's time to speak to your subjects right after the end of the season.

If you're putting the finishing touches on your resignation speech and you want your successor to make this decision, I apologize.

I received a call from a friend this evening. This guy heard on Channel 3 news that there would be a press conference tomorrow morning to address the coaching situation for both the men's and women's basketball teams at UL. I did not watch the telecast myself, therefore I cannot confirm the details.
