Thread: Who is wearing red tonight?

UL Baseball Re: Who is wearing red tomorrow?

I am wearing my red UL polo right now in downtown BR and loving it. I had a woman ask me if I was going to the game tonight this morning due to my shirt, and I answered with a simple "Yes, but I have a feeling we will be cheering for different teams." and simled at her.

Well, I'm wearing my purple and gold in Lafayette as we speak. Oh yeah, I've seen a few others doing the same.

I don't know about that, there are plenty of LSU alumni in the Acadiana area. In fact, I know a couple more alumni doing the same thing and we are all heading out at about 3:30. I think it's a great day for fans and alumni of both schools to show their colors.

Thats funny cause I know about 7000 people who have nothing to do with LSU who proudly wear there colors everyday. So, I have to say youre in the monority.

Well, that's the price of success in both collegiate and professional athletics. Likewise, I've worked with a couple of UL grads in the past that live and die with Alabama football. Like those LSU fans you mentioned, neither guy has ever taken a class in Tuscaloosa.

Correct, I myself was once a die hard Michigan fan until I went to UL for college. I still have a huge interest in them, but I live and die by my alma mater. Loyalty is at a premium these days.

Exactly. As an "outsider", I can honestly say I've seen the level of pride in Acadiana towards UL increase significantly over the last decade. Continued success in athletics will allow kids to follow the hometown school instead of Michigan, Bama, Notre Dame, etc.

It wasnt success. I went to scholl during the Baldwin era. Attendance across the board sans softball and baseball were dreary. It's called loyalty. Quick question. How many football games did you go to before the Saban era? Im talking the Curley halman and Gerry Dinardo years. was it all the time or just now and then when ya had some free time and was bored? This is a serious question.

I sat through many painful afternoons/nights during the Archer (end of his tenure), Hallman and Dinardo days. LSU has just been a way of life for myself as my family has produced 17 graduates (certainly more on the way) from the school. I was also there watching some bad basketball during the end of Brown's tenure and throughout the Brady tenure. I can remember the Randy Livingston and Ronnie Henderson days like it was yesterday. However, I know plenty of fans that skipped out during the 90's. I'll never forget the days of watching LSU play in front of 50,000-60,000 fans during the dark ages/mid-early 90's. LSU is no different from any other school as your casual fans only want to support WINNERS.
