UL- Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns tennis team was able to extend their win streak to three Monday afternoon against the Illinois State Redbirds. The Cajuns now 3-8 on the season were able to improve their home record to 3-4.
UL was able to jump out quickly on the Redbirds winning the doubles’ point. The Lady Cajuns got doubles’ victories from the teams of Mia Gordon and Julie Mazinova, and Angela Dangond and Milou Israel. Gordon/Mazinova and Dangond/Israel both won 8-4 in their matches.
In the singles’ portion of the tournament UL was able to clinch the match by winning three matches. The Cajuns got wins from both their number five and six players in the lineup for the second time this season.
Marina Ruiz de Guana won her match 6-1, 6-3 at the number five position and Tara Vasovic won her match 6-1, 6-0 at number six.
Also picking up a singles win for UL was Mazinova, who won 6-2, 6-3.
The Cajuns now have eight days off before meeting up Northwestern State, March 17 at Cajuns Courts. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
