UL – Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis team got back on track Sunday afternoon beating Southern 5-2. The Cajuns jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point. The Cajuns are now 4-4 on the season.
The Ragin' Cajuns won all three doubles matches, one by walkover. Piotr Banas and Piotr Olechowski beat Marlon Gichia and Bino Rasedisa 8-3. Arlen Domoney and Yanick Mandl won 8-4 over Kashwayne Nelson and Tyler Chin.
The Ragin' Cajuns got a point in singles when Neil Schneider won by a walkover, the point gave the Cajuns a 2-0 lead.
Banas won 6-1, 6-1 in number one singles over Bino Rasedisa.
Southern’s Marlon Gichie won at number two over Olechowski 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
The Cajuns won at number three and four as well to clinch the match. Pulgar won at three in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 and Bradley Bristow won 6-3, 6-1.
UL’s Brent Fugit made his debut for the Cajuns at number five. Unfortunately, Fugit was unable to get a win losing in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
The Ragin' Cajuns will back in action Wednesday when the host Illinois State at 6 p.m. The match will be sponsored by Coyote Blues providing free food and Bells Sporting Goods with prizes.
