UL - The Lady’ Cajuns tennis team hosts the likes of UALR and Arkansas State this weekend. The Lady Cajuns will play the Sun Belt foes on back to back days, hosting UALR, Saturday at 10 a.m., following by a match with Arkansas State, Sunday at 10 a.m. as well.
The Lady Cajuns (0-8) will look for their first win of the season over the weekend. The Lady Cajuns have been improving week by week, losing several close matches including 4-3 losses twice while on their California trip.
Angela Dangond leads the team with four wins on the season, playing out of the number two or three position in the lineup. Milou Israel is second on the team with two singles wins.
On the doubles side, Dangond has had her hand in three wins, the most on the team. Three Lady Cajuns, Julie Mazinova, Mia Gordon and Israel are tied for second on the team with two wins.
Scouting the opponents:
UALR:
Currently on the season the Trojans are 2-7, with their wins coming against Louisiana Tech and Oral Roberts. UALR is scheduled to play ULM Friday, before making the trip to UL on Saturday.
The Trojans are led by Anne Weijenborg and Rebecca Van Den Houte who lead the team with four singles wins. Weijenborg has played all nine matches from the number one spot and Van Den Houte has bounced between the four and five positions.
UALR has used nine different parings in their doubles matches this season. Chantal Coolen and Marta Gomez-Jordana have played the most matches together accounting for seven. Their record of 3-4 for places them in a tie with Rebecca Van Den Houte and Anne Weijenborg for the most wins on the team.
Arkansas State:
The Red Wolves are 3-4 on the season and play UNO on Saturday before visiting Cajun Courts.
Three different Red Wolves led the team with three wins in singles matches. The doubles partnership of Elne Barnard and Paula Chelminska have four double wins on the season playing all their matches from the number two position.
