    Capital City Press, the parent company of The Advocate, and Louisiana State Newspapers have completed an agreement for The Advocate to acquire the assets of four community weekly newspapers in the greater Baton Rouge area. Terms are not disclosed.

    
The papers involved are the Zachary Plainsman- News in Zachary, The Watchman in East Feliciana Parish, The St. Francisville Democrat in West Feliciana, and The St. Helena Echo in Greensburg. The sale includes each of the assets of the papers web sites, along with a free "shopper" publication, the Zachary Plainsman- Xtra, 
Darrell Guillory, the Chief Operating Office of Louisiana State Newspapers, said the decision to sell its newspapers to the Advocate was a strategic one and will allow for local community reporting to continue.

    It's a newspaper in the digital age. It's like having a monopoly on mud pies.

    IMO the biggest point of newspaper coverage was recruiting interest. That was the 20th century. In the latter half of the 20th century the internet took over along with television for recruiting interest. Today it is the smart phone, tweet, face book, and such. Hardly any recruit of note spends any time reading a printed newspaper unless HIS name is a part of an article, even they they probably saw it first on the smart phone.

    In fact it hardly matters at all what the TP has to say about UL, and that is almost noting ever.

    --Funny you mention that---My wife just returned from NO with a T-Pic and surprisingly had a huge write up on Tulane and the Tanner kid--then they had LSU and are you ready-----Southern--Crazy!!!
