We got a freaking all-american here, and before his first weekend in Cajun Country, he gets publicly called out over an "L." Welcome to Cajun Country. I still can't even believe my eyes.
If we could fill our team with 5 star All Americans and win the national championship - but each player would use the "L," many of you would rather drag your happy butts to New Orleans to play freaking Air Force at 10 in the morning in a game nobody outside of Acadiana gives a crap about.
All because of an "L." White flag waived. That's not the type of fight I thought I was in.
For everyone that wants to waste some time, go read the twitter stuff. The guy didn't "go after" Otha. Peters asked for ULL followers. The guy says something like "calling the team Louisiana or UL will get you plenty of followers". It's ridiculous that you would accuse the poster of "going after" him.
I'm glad he wasn't DM'd, whatever that is. I'm guessing it's a form of private message. And if that's the case, other players that are ignorant of the issue need to be aware of it as well. No one is walking around Texas calling longhorns "UTA" and all those examples.. Whether you think it's irrelevant or not, it matters.. We're either in a battle for the name or we're not.
JL, I'm sorry, but you're wrong on all accounts in this last rebuttal. Couldn't disagree more with "it makes us look petty" comment.
BJ, with all due respect, I don't accept that as an excuse. If he's from here, knows what we're called, etc, there's no reason to use ULL.
Sounds like much ado about nothing.
good grief
Tone matters.
"refer to the team correctly, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of followers. Louisiana or UL."
That's a disrespectful response to "I need ULL followers."
There are no facial expressions on Twitter. No tone of voice. Just this.
It's disrespectful and lacks the tact and restraint this sort of thing calls for.
There's a time, a place, and a tone for all of this.
Wrong time, wrong place, and wrong tone.
If you don't understand Twitter enough to understand this, you shouldn't be tweeting athletes with anything other than "Congratulations."
we need for the season to start and I mean now
Yea you're right, twitter is such a complicated vehicle of communication. People should really be careful.
Are you serious? I guess the correct time and place would be when this Jag guy and him were out having a guys night together, throwing back a couple cold ones and arm wrestling..
