Over my 30 years in banking, I've had to lay-off and fire people. Some deservedly so, but also some good, loyal, long-term employees who, in the bank's view, for one reason or another, had served their purpose and it was mutually just time to move on. Banks don't like bad press that may come with firings. With some of these employees, however, we were able to give them a "secret" 60-90" day period to put their resume' out before letting them go. Maybe the same could be done for Coach Lee...a good, loyal employee whose time has just come to move on....time for the university to move on also.
Where were you 25 years ago when this should have been offered to Dr. Authement? In reality, you don't usually allow someone in any form of managerial position advanced notice of or any options on hanging around. Often times there are termination statements in a coach's contract or the school has a policy it has to follow, regardless of their sentiment toward the individual. Any variations bring on lawsuits. By now, UL better have well dotted Is and crossed Ts on their termination policies.
Lee will take his check and make them do their business... while carefully looking for a UL mis-step.
It's simple: keep Lee average 1,500 fans a game - fire Lee average 3,000!!! Might have a worse record with new coach but keeping a lame duck would just postpone the inevitable. IMO we can't afford to keep him, my butt will not touch a seat in the Cajun Dome until he is gone...
The only difference here is Lee has a guaranteed contract. He would really have to be crazy to voluntarily resign and give back the money he is contractually obligated to receive. If he did I would praise his loyalty to UL and at the same time question his commitment to providing for his family.
I voted YES!! There is enough talent on this team to compete and win an SBC title.Coach Lee was unable to teach these young men team work, and how to run a half court offense.I understand about the financial troubles they are facing, but,if he stays another year, the attendence will continuue to drop, and the financial troubles will worsen.
Well I just got up from a nap and dreamed it, but then reality kicked in and I know they will keep him.
I hate you
You completely suck! Not partially, but completely!
