Thread: Assign Robert Lee the Lady Cajuns head coaching job.

  1. UL Basketball Assign Robert Lee the Lady Cajuns head coaching job.

Why not? It would be a little like the way the Nelson Schexnayder situation was handled.

Make Errol Rogers his assistant -or not- whatever Leee wants in that regard.

You would have no buyouts and Robert Lee still has a year to right his reputation ship. I know the girls would respect him. After a year he can apply for the job at market value or not.

    just musing.

Most men's coaches would not take a job as a womens basketball coach. That is a completely different animal than men.

I said the same thing last week when I was thinkimg out of the box. Go out and hire the best Mens coach you can find. It gives us an upgrade at both head coaching positions, you only have 1 buyout and you get value for the salaries paid out to Lee and Rogers. Coach Lee might find his niche and he can help the University that he loves that is in a financial crunch.

We shouldn't keep either one of them. Buyouts are part of college athletics,
and we should be prepared to do so if needed. Let's make a change now, so we can begin rebuilding both programs ASAP.
    This is outright embarrasing..

But unfortunately oil is only like 40 bucks a barrel and there's a ton of money being cut from our budget.

What if we simply can't afford it?

a 1000 people at the first round home game? how can you not afford it. there should have been 5-6k. just last night you could have made 40,000 more in ticket sales. takes money to make money. if you make a wise investment in a coach it shouldnt cost you anything, it should make you money. why cant people see that.

Let my try it this way.

That 40k in ticket sales, etc can't be directly applied to the coaches salary.

In other words you can't claim that 40k lost is 40k gained for a prospective new coach (presuming that a new coach translates to more people, which is probably a safe assumption). Mainly because that 40k is split up many different ways. And because of that the decision isn't so clear cut.

Another way to say it is that firing Lee and hiring a new coach will not "pay for itself" with increased ticket sales imo.

The bottom line is you have to have the money to do it. And with the possible cuts coming, all I'm saying is that it's entirely possible that regardless of attendence figures, we may not have enough money in 2009 to fire a coach and offer another coach a highly competitive salary.

The AD may decide to simply let Lee play his contract out, and then look for a guy in 2010. (hopefully not, because this board would surely be in full on psycho lockdown mode!)

You mean we arent' there now?

    Could have fooled me.

It's time for the Administration to sit down and give a long hard look at the shape of our hoops program. The answer is obvious.
