Not trying to argue, but it's amusing to say that fans advocating for the use of Louisiana is ineffective because opposing fans advocate against the use of Louisiana.
I truly believe the efforts of everyone including militant UL fans was beginning to make a difference right up until the moment our President soiled his undergarments and caved to Bruno which led to the conference naming convention fiasco.
Edit: And to give credit those efforts were also led by Jay, Turbine, and CajunT. These media outlets helped spread the word in a more subtle way than those used by many of us. But they were being quietly effective.
Just saying people can read, the more attention you draw to it, it's like a surprise. Look what they called us? What, our name? Anyone who clicks on it can read it, but by making it a big deal, you are leading the opposers directly where they need to go. They will never leave it alone because we won't. We won't even leave it alone when it's what we want. That's what antagonist do, we have some on this board who would do the same exact thing to someone else. It's jmo, but as long as we make it a big deal at every turn, so will they. You know when your brother leaves you alone? When you leave him alone, he becomes bored with it once you are no longer bothered by it.
This experiment is ongoing.
I have never been paid by the unbilled three.
I have never indicated free and they have never asked.
Don't try this at home.
Lesson learned: Always ask for what you deserve.
Maybe we miss communicated somewhere, asking someone to use Louisiana is fine. I'm against every time somebody uses Louisiana, pointing it out and making it a big deal like we just won WWIII. Because if your haters see you enjoying something, they will do everything they can to ruin it. We ask people to use Louisiana, they comply, that's how it should be. No reason to point it out. Again, jmo on the deal. Every time we have an article that uses Louisiana, the first comment is never about the article. It's "did you see what they called us?"
I have to agree with Crazycajun its fine to ask people to call you Louisiana but we don't have to point it out every time they do. I make it a point that any time someone ask me about the University to reply with Louisiana Ragin Cajun in the answer I notice people catch on quick and start using Louisiana Ragin Cajun when they speak about us. Its not just locally I do this I use it in all my travels. Try it, it works. But I never correct anyone if they us ULL or Louisiana Lafayette.
No kidding? Mine does too. I was just pointing out there was a set of UL diploma's issued that year.
If I hadn't played too many hands of bourre and poker in Guillory in '81, I would have received one of those. It ____es me off every time I see one of them. Reminds me that the name change was done properly, then taken by the small minded & fearful.
That stated, I think Luke & the Advocates coverage provides a much more positive effect for UL, than the use of the " at Lafayette's" etc is a detriment. I will certainly continue to read it as long as I can get it online
