LAFAYETTE - Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team now knows who they will host in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The No. 8 seed Ragin’ Cajuns (10-19) will meet FIU (12-19) at 7:30 p.m., in the CAJUNDOME on Wednesday, March 4. The Golden Panthers clinched the No. 9 seed with Saturday’s win over Florida Atlantic.
UL season ticket holders have until Tuesday, March 3 at 12 Noon to secure their seats. Sales to the general public will begin at 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 3. For ticket information, please call the CAJUNDOME Ticket Office at 337-265-2100.
Louisiana and FIU met once this season with the Cajuns leading from start-to-finish in a 90-73 victory at the CAJUNDOME on Feb. 5. Chris Gradnigo scored a career-high 31 points and the Cajuns buried 14 triples on the Golden Panthers, outscoring them 42-14 from three-point range.
The Cajuns are 8-1 all-time vs. FIU at home (7-1 in CAJUNDOME). UL has won the past six meetings with FIU in the CAJUNDOME.
Louisiana is hosting a first round game in the SBC Tournament for the second straight season. Last season, Troy pulled off an upset by defeating UL 70-60 on March 5, 2008.
The winner of Wednesday’s UL-FIU matchup will face No. 1 seed WKU on Sunday, March 8 in the tournament’s quarterfinals in Hot Springs, Ark., at Summit Arena.
