I hate to say this, but I hope we don't get a home game in the first round of the tournament. I think our chances of winning are slim and attendance will be poor. I have season tickets and I didn't go last night. I've just lost interest. I started going to basketball games with my father in 1966. This is probably the first time I feel like this........
I was at a rec league basketball game (my boys team got beat worse than the cajuns lol) I got a text at halftime that said hey we are playing good we are only down 22...i turned to my other friend and told him and he looked at me and was like well u won your last game did you really think we would take 2 in a row. Sad times!
I personally enjoy some chick flicks. Obviously that would have been better than what I saw last night. That does not mean I would not have gone to the game however given a choice as I did not know beforehand we would play so poorly. Afterall, we played fairly well in the previous game. Regarding the comment about not making shots, high school players make a much higher % of the open looks we had last night than our guys do. I believe more and more the issue is a lack of confidence than physical ability. I see better shooting in many pickup games. Whoever is coach next year needs to reinstill confidence prior to anything else.
We will have a home game as FIU lost last night. It will be on Wednesday night. I completely understand people not wanting to go as entertainment value will likely be low. However, the school must pay 10 grand in order to host this game. That means we need to sell about 2000 tickets to break even. I have my doubts we will do this. If my schedule allows, I may attend just to help with the financial effort.
We will likely play FIU. We beat them soundly earlier in the year on a rare night in which we made some shots. I thought we matched up well with them. I don't think the odds of us winning are necessarily very low or very high. I would say they are about even. Even if we win, all of us would be shocked if we won the first game in Hot Springs as we would play the No. 1 seed, likely WKU. Season will end either next Wednesday or a week from Sunday. I know most will say those 6 to 10 days can't come soon enough.
Listening to Stevie P yesterday morning, he stated the opposite. He stated that these players were brought in by Lee and that they may leave if he is canned. Gradnigo is especially touchy because his godfather is Lebato and if he is gone with Lee, Gradnigo may just be tempted to jump ship. I don't know how this would turn out. I'm not sure if the players have had enough of Lee or they want him here.
