Rage, I was sitting right behind first base (in between the dam obstructing pole and the end of the bleachers, where the view is perfect from first base to home) and that was no "perfect push bunt". Either Scott expected the pitcher to get that, or the pitcher was supposed to pick it up and toss; either way, it was a mental lapse. The bunt was as bad as the one in the 2nd inning when the starter threw the guy out at third.

You practice these things over and over and over. Miscommunication or what have you, it was poor. It shouldn't happen at the college level.

I realize that. I wasn't suggesting he was an all conference fielder. My bad.

The one knock on Robe in the past few years has been the lack of recruiting success, primarily in TX. Our teams from the past were made up of many TX players. Now we have just a few. I think if we want to get back to the Super Regional level, we will have to start getting more kids from Texas. _
You are right. We are barking up the wrong tree though. Robe does not take the heat from us. He generates his own heat, a heck of a lot hotter than any collection of fan critics. We are a silly lot... I got to tell you.

What goes on in early season mid-week games does not a season make. It stunk that our non-weekend developmental pitching group didn't shine... and that our batting is rusty with only signs of shine... and that we aren't stellar yet in field defense... BUT... it is pathetically early in the season to judge the team, the roster, and definitely Robe. We are experimenting to find and build on what comes later.... and Robicheaux knows as good as anyone what needs to be done.

THANK YOU!! one of the first posts with any sense... i agree 100%.

I honestly feel like i'm reading a message board with a bunch of little whiny babies that can't get their way. Everyone needs to grow up and let the season play out.. then judge.

I mean come on, did you expect us to sweep Nebraska?? NO... we lost in an extra inning game for the first game of the season... tough loss... and we had them on the ropes for 2 more... Then we lose an unexpected game to Southeastern... but not by fault of our hitting.. it was bad pitching that didn't come from our weekend rotation. Robe will figure out our pitching staff.. give it time.

ITS THE FIRST WEEK OF THE SEASON!!!! AND ITS BASEBALL!!!!! YOU DON'T WIN EVERY GAME, period.

You are right it is early, but mid-week games do count when it comes to RPI and a regional seed. Every game counts and dropping games to an opponent with inferior talent is a no no.

Trust me, I know this.... I was just as mad as the next guy that we lost last night... but for everyone to be freaking out like this is absurd.

What is contrary? You just agreed with me.

This team lacks a true leader. Someone that walks the walk and talks the talk.

In other words, they do just the opposite (the team "leaders" I mean).. I was agreeing, by saying they have people that should lead, but don't.
