WHo cares where they fly out of. Probably cheaper and direct flight to Denver and then home.
There are no cheap flights out of Lafayette. It is like the big cities get deals and all us little people get nutin.

Not all BCS schools are so lucky. If you remember last year, LSU had a tie with Georgia due to a long Sunday afternoon game, and I think they were flying out of BR!

And I agree, ties do suck. Especially this early in the season.

    Covered in another thread.

Besides the difference in costs, Lafayette has no big planes. It's not like you can book 35 seats on a commuter jet.

UL doesn't fly out of Lafayette for baseball either for the same reason.

For last 7 or so years I have flown home numerous times a year. It is cheaper to fly into Houston than new Orleans from Baltimore. Being from DeRidder you would think going into Lake Charles. But is actually cheaper for me to fly into Lafayette and rent a car than LC. It is also cheaper for me to go into Houston than Lafayette than either NO or BR than Lafayette.

And I'm just one person. How many travel with a baseball, basketball or softball team? Three hour bus trip to NO makes sense cost wise.

Thanks Jay Bird. Just getting back in the swing of things. Where does our football team fly out of?

Our football team charters a big plane. Fly out of Lafayette.

Basketball flies out of BR or Laf because they only travel 20 or so.

Don't recall the Georgia instance for sure-but I know for a lot of the Sunday games at the Box the other team is flying out of New Orleans-from discussions by the announcers on how long the game can go. Now from Lafayette that adds another hour, but ...

Knowing the possibility of extra inning games and flight deadlines, I wonder why games on Sundays aren't started an hour or so earlier to avoid what happened to UL-Nebraska and LSU-UGA?

Maybe should happen more-but think it happens some. For example I think that was why last Sunday's game at the new Box was a noon start rather tha the originally scheduled 1 pm. Don't know about UL but seems as though I have heard Robe in the past move games around for weather and flights to try to best get them in.

I think Bab had talked about it on Billy's show. The game was moved up to 11:30 first off, but also, you have to look at all the preparation the team goes through before a game. Really, it would have been difficult to get that all in for a game that was any earlier. I think he said the team has wake up at like 7 and eat breakfast, and all the other preparations before a game. It wasn't possible to go much earlier.

Just the nature of the beast.
