Thread: Visitor's Opinions of UL & Lafayette

Default Visitor's Opinions of UL & Lafayette

When UL hosts teams like Nebraska, Kentucky, Connecticut and San Diego State, I am always wondering what kind of impression we make on the teams and visiting fans. We seldom see anything reported on that. Are they pleasantly surprised, impressed, disappointed, given what they are used to in their respective conferences and vs. other schools they play. Overall, UL has a nice athletic complex and has some of the best fans and hospitality anywhere. Is that what people walk away thinking? Anybody have a chance to talk to any of the visitors over the weekend?

I sat next to some Nebraska Fans during Game 2 on Saturday. They seemed very impressed w/ our field, Lafayette, and the fans. They seemed to be enjoying their time in Lafayette.

From the few I talked to while in line for the head, they seemed to be enjoying themselves very much. They didn't really comment on facilities or anything like that but overall i'd imagine they leave with a positive idea of Lafayette just because for the most part people in Lafayette are nice people.

I visited with fans and parents and they all enjoyed themselves. One fan made it a point to come to my box and let me know how that the hospitality was great. He had a great time and would come back in a heart beat, as to the father of the right fielder, Collins, whose thumb is broken by pitched ball. His Dad wants this to become a series while his son is at Nebraska, would return to Lafayette also, He travelled from Dallas area for weekend series.
Also met an elderly couple and ran into him in parking lot as I was leaving, He was wearing a RAGIN CAJUN ball cap. That impressed me. He had a great time.

SO TO ALL OUR FANS, YOUR HOSPITALITY HAS ONCE AGAIN BEEN A ASSET TO OUR UNIVERSITY.

I think he was referring to Nebraska's facilities. They are top notch in every facet. While we may think we have nice facilities, we really don't when compared to the elite programs across the country. I know we have budget constraints and those programs do not, but with the mentality of the previous admin I am amazed that we do not have more instances like bricks falling off stadiums.

I talked to a coach and player from Kent. ---Were ready for a parade---talked to #5 for Conn.and some fans ---they couldn't imagine that the team needed to raise money to travel---maybe one day we get there!!!

I would love to start up a little rivalry with Nebraska. Every game we play is close.

I don't know how the facilities of a 10-mill a year university would impress someone having 60-million. What we have won't make a dent in theirs.
