Stamps has overcome several ailments to perform at a high level over the years, from appendectomy surgery as a rookie to a shoulder injury to losing a testicle to playing most of last season with a lingering foot injury.

He also took a crushing hit in the chest area from Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back Demond Washington after an incomplete pass in the end zone on July 17, and eventually left Investors Group Field on a stretcher while wearing an oxygen mask after the game when he complained about shortness of breath. He spent the night in a Winnipeg hospital.

Stamps returned to play a week later against Calgary but managed only one catch for five yards, although he had a 59-yard pass-and-run touchdown nullified by a holding penalty.
