Months of waiting for the start of baseball season finally ended on Friday for UL.
That patience came in handy against Nebraska.
The fans at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field got more baseball than they bargained for and ultimately saw the Cajuns fall, 4-3, in a 15-inning marathon that lasted nearly five hours. A throwing error by UL third baseman Matt Hicks in the top of the 15th allowed the Cornhuskers to score the go-ahead run in the first game of a four-game set.
It was the longest game in UL history since at least 1988 and the first season-opening loss at home under coach Tony Robichaux.
