 According to Nielsen Ratings, the Independence Bowl was the third worst Bowl Game in 2009. It beat the Texas Bowl (0.3 Rating on NFL Network — not on every cable platform) and the New Orleans Bowl (0.8 Rating on ESPN — the Sunday night before Christmas).

Nielsen said the Independence Bowl had an attendance of 41,567 — 85 percent of capacity and a TV rating of 1.0 (Household impressions: 948,613).

After seeing these results, I am disappointed knowing that the University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (No. 2 in the Sun Belt Conference, 6-6 overall, 5-2 in conference) would have traveled more fans and created better business opportunities.
