The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball will take part in the MGM Grand Main Event just prior to Thanksgiving in the upcoming season, taking on Oral Roberts in the semifinals before facing either Milwaukee or a team to be determined in a pair of neutral-site games as part of its non-conference schedule.
Awesome. 3 games against pretty good competition. Thanks for the updated.
Wasn't Auburn in the heavyweight bracket when this was first announced?
Yes. Auburn & Tulsa are still in the heavyweight bracket with Oklahoma State and Oregon State. The Cajuns are in the middleweight bracket and play at Tulsa and at Auburn before going to Vegas. In Vegas the Cajuns will play Oral Roberts in the first round of the middleweight bracket. If they beat Oral Roberts they'd play the winner of Milwaukee and a team yet to be announced in the middleweight bracket final. If the Cajuns lose to Oral Roberts they'd play the Milwaukee-TBA loser in the middleweight bracket third-place game.
Thanks Josh I didn't realize there were on campus games as part of this too.
Great games.
Not surprised. When talking to these groups.....you'd think this would be a point of discussion during negotiation at some point. Farmer "We are very excited to be part of this exceptional tournament. I am going to ask a small favor of you, please list us as Louisiana & UL in your press release/advertisements as this is correct way we wish to be referenced, I'd be very grateful if you could make this happen"
Tournament Dude: "OK"
I see your point, but you're talking about two different directions here. If we wanted to drop UL and go to Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns, nobody cares - just like they don't for Milwaukee. Of course, the difference is that there is already a University of Wisconsin, so they can't go the other way. Dropping down = no worries; going up = worries.
