Thread: ASU knocks off UL women 74-66

  1. UL Basketball ASU knocks off UL women 74-66

Errol Rogers smacked his head and hit the floor with both hands after another UL shot clanked off the rim in the closing minutes.

That's all the second-year coach could do Saturday as he watched Arkansas State use a late run to rally past the Cajuns, 74-66, at the Cajundome.

UL led by 10 points early in the second half but got out-scored 16-8 in the final seven minutes to suffer its 12th consecutive loss. The Cajuns (3-22 overall, 0-14 Sun Belt) remain winless this season in conference play after getting out-rebounded by 19.

I could buy that if that was how he had sold the season. Instead he claimed this wasn't even a rebuilding year.

The real question I have is not this year, rather how does one explain last years failure? He had "2" 1000 point players on the team and couldn't win.

Give it a rest. The guy just flat out cannot coach. He couldn't coach in HS, he couldn't coach in AAU, and he can't coach now.

You never heard me mention Brodhead or Boyd, except to say I don't want either one of them. I want a REAL coach.

HAHA yall dont want Brodhead huh? I wonder why not? He has won everywhere he has been. McNeese was in the bottom 5 in Division 1 womens basketball and now they are in the top 150 or so that a 150% improvement. He did nothing but win in high school. You want a real coach huh? How about Kim Guidry from VC Observer? She sure has won some games huh?

She sure beat Brodhead's team like a drum darn near every time they played. But, no; you and I both know that she wins when she has talent. She can't coach.

I don't want ANY HS coach.

Over 600 wins she must be doing something right?

High School wins...doesn't mean you translate to the college game.

I never said I wanted Guidry as the new UL coach, just stating a fact that she has been successful on the high school level...

Guidry has 600+ wins because the Biddy Basketball program in Vermilion Parish is the best in the state for girls; and because Larry Becker teaches them how to play at Mt. Carmel. All she has to do is roll the ball out on the court.

My daughter played for her on two Sweet 16 teams. Trust me on this one; I can guarantee that any half-way decent coach at VC during most of Guidry's tenure would have won more games than she has.

I like Kim. But she is no basketball coach.
