Eliminated from the Sun Belt West Division title and the possibility of a first-round bye in the SBC Tournament, Louisiana now tries to stay in contention for a host spot in the first round of the tournament.

● Louisiana is currently in a four-way tie for seventh place in the race for Sun Belt Tournament seeding. UL is tied with Arkansas State, Denver and ULM with a 5-8 SBC mark. After tiebreaking procedures, Louisiana holds the No. 8 seed. Seeds four through eight host a first round game.

● The Ragin’ Cajuns meet Arkansas State tonight. The winner will break free from the current four-way tie and have the upper-hand in head-to-head tiebreaking procedures.

● This is the only meeting between The Ragin’ Cajuns and Red Wolves this season.

● UL will play three of the final five games at the CAJUNDOME. Good news, considering the team is 4-2 at home in SBC play and only 1-6 on the road.

● Randell Daigle made a career-high six three-pointers at ULM. He also tallied his 100th career triple and currently has 102 in 44 career games.

● The Ragin’ Cajuns began the second half with an 8-2 spurt to take their lead back to double figures. UL held a 41-29 lead with 14:27 to play.

● A layup by Randell Daigle pushed the lead to its biggest margin, 45-31. Two triples from Ryan Wedel triggered a 10-4 ASU run that took The Ragin’ Cajuns lead down to eight points at the midway point of the half.

● After The Ragin’ Cajuns tied the game, Arkansas State posted a 13-2 run, taking a commanding 19-8 lead.

● This is the first meeting in which Arkansas State plays under its new nickname, “Red Wolves”.

● The two teams are hitting the hardwood in the CAJUNDOME for the 20th time with UL holding a 14-5 edge in games played in the facility. Louisiana has won nine of the past 11 CAJUNDOME meetings. Louisiana is 22-6 all-time at home against ASU (went 8-1 at Blackham Coliseum).

● The Ragin’ Cajuns lead the series 18-10 since the two teams joined the Sun Belt in 1991-92.

● UL is aiming for its fourth straight win over ASU. That would be the longest win streak for UL in the series since taking four straight meetings Feb. 23, 1989 through March 2, 1990.

● Louisiana is currently holding eighth (8th) place in overall Sun Belt standings which determine seeding for the conference's postseason tournament. UL is in a four-way tie with Arkansas State, Denver and ULM for seventh place. Arkansas State wins the four-way tiebreaker and therefore currently holds the No. 7 seed.

● Seeds four through eight host first round games. As of today, Louisiana (No. 8) is still in position to host.

● The Ragin’ Cajuns trail North Texas (7-6 SBC) by two full games for fifth (5th) place and South Alabama (7-7 SBC) by 1-1/2 half games for sixth (6th) place.

● The Ragin’ Cajuns are in a precarious position. While they are only two games out of fifth place, they are also only one-half game ahead of 12th place UNO (5-9 SBC).

● The loss to ULM eliminated UL from the possiblity of receiving a bye in the first round of the SBC Tournament. UP NEXT FOR LOUISIANA

The Ragin' Cajuns travel to Denver on Wednesday, Feb. 18 to meet the Pioneers on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Magness Arena. Game time is 8 p.m. (CST) and the game will be televised on Fox Sports Net.

Louisiana rallied from a 15-point deficit in the first half to force overtime and defeat DU 63-62 in double OT on Jan. 3 in the CAJUNDOME. The Pioneers have won three of the last four meetings in Magness Arena.

The Ragin’ Cajuns go for the sweep of DU, which would give Louisiana the head-to-head tiebreaker at the end of the season.
