I think that is the answer, pay the $250 RCAF level. Clearly many were not doing that the last few seasons and parked in TG areas. This also addresses the question as to why should people that are not RCAF members be allowed to purchase TG areas? That will not be the case any longer.
By the way some people are reacting, you would think the university is asking them to park at Northgate Mall and walk to the field.
Anyone who has a problem with the parking situation: please look at the map below, find your tailgating spot and I guarantee you that the edge of D Lot (possibly C Lot) is probably a 3-5 minute walk from your spot. It would maybe be a 5-10 minute walk if you are pulling a dolly with a generator and tent. I did it every single game last year and it is not bad at all.
What do you not understand about the university wants TAILGATING, in the tailgating lot?!? This is a change for the better!! Without vehicles parked in the tailgating area, there will be more room to move around and enjoy the area and hopefully more people tailgating. If you don't get it, you are being selfish to your own wants and not what is best for the tailgating environment.
What they should do to make it easier and clearly understood. To enter the fence you must have an rcaf pass, get rid of TG passes all together. No vehicles In TG area after 1pm. Anyone with an rcaf pass is allowed to drop off at spot then go park in your allotted space. Everyone pays , no way around it and anyone who pays for rcaf is allowed to drop off supplies and has a parking spot. Don't want to join rcaf you park outside the fence and carry whatever you bring or arrange for an rcaf member to drop it off for you.
From the other side of things, it's extremely frustrating to be on the waiting list to get a tailgating spot for years when people use an "extra" spot just to park their cars when there's a large parking lot nearby.
Why do that? If whomever doesn't have a spot because they allowed the person to buy extra spots just for parking...it is not their fault said person was not johnny on the spot in staking his claim. They had years to get a spot. I understand situations dictate when people can or cannot tailgate but coming in late to the party is a recipe for disappointment. I see no comparison to people who took advantage of an allowed practice and people who are just late to the party for whatever reason. Call them out all you want but it seems pointless.
