Thread: Tail Gate Spot Parking Policy (merged)

We've been doing the same thing for years. We tailgate right by the Red and White storage shed. We have about 50 of us that all get there early enough to park at the nearest RCAF spot available, unload ice chests, chairs, tables, etc. Our walk is about 75 yards from the RCAF lot. We pick up the majority of the tailgating items about an hour before kickoff leaving some items for those who stumble back during halftime for a beer and food. Load the rest after the game and leave......not a problem, nor has it ever been a problem.

The roads were shutdown at 1 last year I believe. You also can still pull up on the edge of the gravel next to grass and unload then go park. For those that live close, go drop off your stuff earlier in the morning and then go home and get everyone else. There are ways around it.
So you are promoting drinking and driving?

I'll clarify, my driver goes get my truck. Or even better, if you have been drinking, take 20-3o minutes to eat and drink some water.

It only makes sense if your final objective is to lessen the tailgating experience for certain people.

It can't be money, because we'll pay whatever they want.

It can't be safety, because this increases car travel through the tailgating area.

It can't be to improve the parking situation, because they've just thrown hundreds of cars into the other parking zones that weren't there in the past.

Here is another question. When will they allow vehicles back into the tailgating area? Let's say not until after the game. Imagine the Chinese fire drill that will ensue with everybody picking up at the same time, after a full day of liquid courage. Cluster F.

Remember the year where we went 3-8, could only beat Nichols, Idaho, & Monroe. That is the same year that we were fighting with Idaho & Monroe to be the worst football D-1 program in the country. Anyone want to go back to 2001?

Many of you _____ing on this site were not around in 2001. For those of us who remember, majority would gladly pay the little bit of money and deal with some "inconveniences" than have to go back to where we came from.

Some are _____ing about the rule change but I think most are okay with it. However, what hasn't changed since 2001 and what most of us are _____ing about is the complete lack of communication and waiting too long. We all know that changes are going to happen when we want to be a big time program but the administration at this school MUST do their part in the communication process. It is just as important as anything else. No one wants to go back to 2001 and the administration needs to stop operating like it's 2001.

These major changes do not happen over night. Maybe the late communication is due to the administration making sure everything is in place before a mass communication goes out? Hell I dont know, Im just speculating as well.

What's worse, no communication or miscommunication?

They will make more money because the people that parked in the tailgate spot with the TG tag will now most likely pay the 250 for an extra tag. It is safer because no cars will be allowed to drive around from 12-6 and there will be no cars parked in the TG area able to leave during peak hours. When you go back to your spot everyone will be leaving and people and parents expect to look out for moving vehicles. There won't be a 100 kids playing football at 9pm. Everyone has been spoiled with convenience, there are a lot of people who have been doing this new rule for years now. Pretty much anyone not in the grass area. I think noon is a little early to shut it down, I thought 1 o'clock was plenty. It really doesn't start getting thick until then. There is a line of people waiting to take this extremely inconvenient tailgating arrangement off your hands if you don't want it. Sounds like blackhams set up will be convenient, maybe consider moving there and you could have your own car show in your TG spot. There are spots that can't fit a car because they host so many people and have so much gear. They have been getting by just fine for years.

I think it will also eliminate some of the groups that tailgate all the way through the games and never contribute to RCAF or tickets.
