Thread: Tail Gate Spot Parking Policy (merged)

  1. Default Re: Tail Gate Spot Parking Policy

Can't wait to have a full 60k stadium full....then where do you tailgate? This is minor.

Logically, they probably could not have a plan until they were 100% certain what would be available. Poor timing, but still minor.

Forgot the reason why, but one year there was extra parking at the JUCO down the street with a shuttle down Bertrand to the stadium----Don't know how it worked out but this seems like another place to park!!!

It was because of all the rain and you could not park in the field behind the Hilton Garden Inn.

FYI...I called the athletic department today and the lady I spoke with said that the game day tailgating at Blackham will be handled by parking and transit and only credit cards accepted. Just a heads up if anyone is planning on tailgating there.

    $20000.00 – 2A

The TG passes will be for drop off only and will have to park in general parking. Those TG passes will not allow cars to stay in the tailgating spots as in years past. They will no longer be allowed in the gravel lot as in years past.
Even if you have a TG pass, you will not be allowed to enter the area less than 6 hours prior to gametime which is what aggravates me the most. That doesn't give anybody much time to get out there and set up, especially when many of us have kids activities during the course of the day. Here are the guidelines

If the point of all of this is to prevent people from using the tailgating spots purely for parking, wouldn't this six-hour rule pretty much accomplish the same thing? Who would go to the trouble to get a $250 RCAF membership AND a $300 tailgating spot, only to go and park and sit in their car for six hours, and not be any closer to the stadium than their $250 donation alone would get them?

If the purpose is safety, I have to make twice as many trips through the tailgating area in my vehicle now because I have to go BACK to the spot after the game (against the flow of traffic and in the dark) to pick up my stuff, which will probably have been stolen by that time anyway.

    This makes no sense whatsoever.

I agree that this will be a cluster.

Moving forward, if you get there 6 hours before game time, you should be able to get a parking spot in the rcaf lot close to your area. I agree it will suck to have to carry your stuff to the car, but it shouldn't be too far to carry a tv, radio, etc. if you get there early and park in a row closest to your area.

We in the North Endzone have been carrying our stuff to our cars for years. Welcome to the party. The way you handle it where you don't have to drive against the flow of traffic is put your stuff away before the game starts. It's a lot of work...and it ruins the experience but you don't have to try and collect your stuff in the dark if it is even still there. It could always be worse...

This is what we do and its nice to not have to break down everything post game in order to leave. I usually break down everything about a quarter to 5 and head for the gates about 5:15 to get situated. Yes, it is a little bit of a buzz kill but it also works well.

Individuals no matter how experienced rarely think of everything.

Wait 20 minutes after the game at your spot, drink a few celebratory beers then go get your vehicle and drive right back up to your spot. I do that every time. The roads were shutdown at 1 last year I believe. You also can still pull up on the edge of the gravel next to grass and unload then go park. For those that live close, go drop off your stuff earlier in the morning and then go home and get everyone else. There are ways around it.
