*(2014 updated rules coming soon)
Also.... The website (http://rcaf.louisiana.edu/membership-benefits) has the updated 2014 RCAF donor benefits, but the parking map below it is outdated. So if you look at the donor benefits to see what lots you get parking passes for, then scroll down to the parking map to find your spot, you will not be parking where the map indicates. There is a small footnote reading, *** Parking lot locations are subject to modifications! ", but I think it is rather misleading to only update the donor benefits and not the parking map.
The reason I know this is because we (and many others) used to tailgate in our parking spot in "B" Lot along the road directly in front of the stadium. That area will now be "A Lot" and "B Lot" will be pushed off of the road.... and this is why my group needs to purchase a tailgating spot this year.
I agree that it is a good rule, but again terrible communication and will be a mess on Aug 30th.
Ok. Here is the full story. Spoke to Matt this AM. Everyone gets 2 TG tags to enter the gates and drop off supplies. MUST be done 6 hours before kickoff. Then TG stickers must park in the General Parking lot behind the Hilton Garden Inn. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARK WITHIN THE STADIUM LOTS. If you donate at the minimum 250 level you get 1 D lot pass. The other TG vehicle must park in general lot. If you donate at 500 level you can get 1 C lot pass or 2 D lot passes. You have to tell Matt which one you want.. I did suggest he communicate this to athletic dept to communicate else a lot of confusion come game day when vehicles are ushered out of the stadium lot to park in general lot behind the Hilton.
Can someone explain to me what they are hoping to accomplish with this new rule?
My normal routine is to show up at least 6 hours before gametime, unload all of my stuff, tailgate, pack up about 45 minutes before game time (meaning, throw everything back into my vehicle and lock it up), then drive away after the game.
There is plenty of room in our spot for 2 vehicles plus all of our tailgaters.
I am not going to leave all of that stuff to be stolen during the game. It's far too much to lug out to the parking lot. And imagine trying to get back to your spot after the game with 40,000 people trying to go the opposite direction.
They can't claim safety concerns, because now I will be forced to make four trips through the tailgating area in my vehicle instead of two. That's twice as dangerous.
I guess I won't be able to use my DC inverter to power the food warmers and fans anymore.
I'm OK with progress, and I'm willing to make sacrifices, but I can think of many reasons why this is a bad idea and not a single reason why it is a good one. If anyone knows, please enlighten me.
They are trying to eliminate the people that pay for a tailgating spot and use it ONLY to park vehicles. It has become quite a problem because tailgating spots are cheaper than parking spots.
I agree with you though, before we go in the stadium we normally put our generator, TV, and other valuables in our vehicle. I guess now we will have to drag it back to our vehicles parked away from the tailgating area.
This is ridiculous. The RCAF has had 8 months to make changes and now they announce MAJOR changes a few weeks before kickoff. HAHAAA.... what a cluster.
This is quite a bit different from eliminating parking on your spot.
