Manilla Texters Tap UL's Tiras Wade to make PBA Chamionship run

  The Texters, who have yet to win an import-flavored tournament, have tapped Tiras Wade, a former standout of the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns who had stints in South America and Europe.

The 6-foot-6 Wade, who recently played in Mexico and saw action in Argentina, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Dominican Republic, is expected to arrive next week.

"He’s an all-around player, bagay sa team namin," said Reyes who attended the weekly session with team officials Ricky Vargas and Frankie Lim, as well as PBA Finals MVP Mark Cardona, Jimmy Alapag and Ranidel de Ocampo.

"He (Wade) is a natural guard but he can also play inside. We needed somebody who can play inside because ’yun ang kailangan ng team namin," Reyes added.

Yes. He was a blast to watch. He chose to forego his final year with the Cajuns and enter the draft. That didn't work out like he had hoped. I had heard he wasn't digging the classroom and that also factored into his decision.

Thanks, I saw him play on a couple of times and I believe he played in the Pmac once. Where did he play HS ball? I hate when kids leave early due to bad advice if that was even the case with Wade. RJ Francois just left LSU early for the NFL draft because he didn't exactly dig the classroom either. I'll never forget Mario Austin leaving Miss State early due to bad advice only to go undrafted. He was actually part of an ESPN special in the last couple of years sharing his story.

He was a bad ass...he could shake anybody (...and not just the SBC...) and drop jumpers from anywhere...definitely would have benifited from another year. If I'm remembering right, he left prior to the year when D.Mitchel, Orien Greene, and Chris Cameron got beat in the tourney by Arizona State...I think I'm wrong about the tourney competition, but we definitely would have gone further with Tyrus on the squad...I believe Southall and B. Boyd where also on the squad. Those where the glory days...I'm tellin' ya!
