I guarantee we won't get swept by Nebraska this weekend. We don't play them until next weekend. Nebraska may have struggles of their own this early in the year as the weather has probably affected their practice schedule. The fifth place selection is about as expected due to the pitching we lost. Note there are 11 teams in the league. As no one knows how we will do, being picked in the middle is appropriate. I don't think this is indicative of the program slipping from an overall viewpoint. It is just the natural ebb and flow of a program with an upcoming rebuilding year. Softball wise, Ole Miss is not a lowly opponent. They have an outstanding pitcher of their own and they were a 0.500 team in the SEC last year, a conference good in every sport. As bad as basketball is, it is not the worst in the league as we would be a 7th or 8th seed of 13 were the season to end today. Now the way things are going, we may end up being closer to the bottom when it is over. I won't argue that women's basketball may be close to the bottom nationwide at this stage. A successful RCAF kickoff won't propel us to a good football season as that will be too soon for impact. It may propel us to a good season in two to three years. What will propel us to a good season would be for the returning guys to take up the example of last year's seniors regarding hard work. Sorry to be so picky, I just had to bring in facts and logic to a view based on emotion.
