Great point, and I thought about that after we hung up. I'm sure a good meeting with the new administration and a solid salary would help out tremendously. We didn't have time to discuss specifics, and I'll probably see him in Baton Rouge after the post-season.

We didn't get into specifics but I somehow got the feeling that he felt snubbed from the University in the past. He didn't flat out say no to the idea, but he didn't sound amused at all. He's not making a ton at Ok State but he's content for now. He's obviously still very interested in taking over a mid-major level program. Also, it sounds as if both his twin boys could have a legitimate shot at playing D1 ball. _
Then why didn't LSU or any other program offer Butch Pierre a head coaching position? I think we all know why, and he would be lucky to get offered any head coaching position. Thanks, but no thanks!

He is proven at WKU although did not fare well at UGA. He may be desperate enough to take the UL job. _
No, there are other qualified candidates that can be hired for the right package. We do not need to settle for another career assistant coach from a major program again. When or if it is announced, I will be happy to name a few providing our adimistration is willing to move beyond $200,000.

I would not hire Butch ... he would open the wrong eyes to the program and that would not be in our best interest.

Agreed. If you hire Pierre, you might as well bring back Authement and Schexnayder. No more of the same old BS. We need new ideas and a new direction, if indeed we are going to let Coach Lee go.

I did a long time ago, I said then and I'll say now, the buyout would be more than the school could afford, and even if we could buy him out, the fact that he would demand no less than 180-190K would run us off. In my opinion, Billy Kennedy has a 0.00% chance of being our next head coach.

Butch is not who reminds me of the previous administrators. The only thing about him that does remind me of those times is his inability to get the opportunity to lead this program while working for morons. I think he would be a great candidate and he's someone who has a special link to this university and since the school will be operating with a 1 million dollar athletic deficit, I think its a good idea to explore those candidates who will work for what Lee was making.

First of all, he was too closely associated with Brady considering he was on his staff for all eleven seasons. Second of all, LSU has plenty of resources to bring in a guy with quality head coaching experience. I'd love to hear your theory on why he would be "lucky to get offered any head coaching position"? I've heard these type of comments before, but nobody has even given a concrete answer defending such a statement.

In what way? The guy was here a long time ago and I don't think he would qualify as the same old BS.

I was told by a former player that Cyprien was offered over $200,000, maybe $250, $275...I don't remember...I'm sure someone will correct me on that.
