  1. UL Football Burnt Roux: Son of UL Hall of Famer Commits to Tulane

Tulane football recruiting neared completion Monday with a verbal commitment from Hargrave Military Academy wide receiver Devin Figaro, and LSU took a quantum leap toward realizing one of the nation's top classes with a pledge from Sulphur linebacker Tahj Jones.

Figaro, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound wide receiver and former Lafayette High product, committed to the Green Wave after making an official visit to the Uptown campus with his parents and two brothers over the weekend. Figaro is Tulane's 24th commitment for 2009.

After his senior year, we were not interested as he was not eligible. After going to Hargrave to get eligible, his father discouraged him from considering us due to the initial view. In retrospect, we probably should have considered something like greyshirting.

What was Tulanes record last year? Their recruiting might look good but its not doing them any good so I wouldn't worry to much about this.

Would it be nice to have him sure but it really doesn't matter.

How long has Toledo been there? This is their best recruiting classes in years, and you obviously won't see results over night. You say it doesn't matter, but I'm sure you would trade recruiting classes with Tulane or La Tech?

    Of course we would.

It doesn't matter because complaining about it won't change anything. We have to win the dang Sun Belt! Until we do that our recruiting will not be equal to or greater than a bottom-mid tier WAC/CUSA team.

So I choose to embrace what/who we have. They will be the ones that will win the Belt for us and cause these changes we all love to talk about.

Gotcha. I just don't understand the "it doesn't really matter" mentality concerning a good player from your own backyard. It would have definitely mattered to me if Michael Clayton would have committed to Miss State even though they weren't worth a damn the previous year.

I DO NOT THINK IT MATTERS! I happen to like our recruiting class and although I like some of the guys Tulane got in their class I wouldn't trade ours for theirs. Techs I would trade ours for but Tech in my opinion has a much better class than Tulane.

It doesn't matter though because he won't be a Cajun so why worry about bull____. Should we be upset that out of high school we didn't offer a kid who had no other division 1 scholarship offers? He went to Hargrave and became a much better prospect and by that time he felt slighted probably that we didn't offer out of high school....OHHHH WELLL! I am not one to cry over stuff like this so like I said it doesn't matter.
