Nice
I hope he's as awesome as his name
I'm just going to call him Gryffindor if he's awesome. Hufflepuff if he doesn't make an impact. Slytherin if he gets in trouble.
I'm planning on calling him Gryffindor.
Our Lafayette connection in Pensacola, Brady Aymond says this cat is a keeper!
As I've already told Z, I love the kid. You won't find a bigger fan of Quaide, or Q23 as we've nicknamed him. Ever since he broke onto the scene as a big, lumbering sophomore and his name tripped me up on a video and I called him Quaalude Weinerdog (I ____ you not), he's gotten my attention.
Last year as a junior, he carried the ball a school-record 349 times for a school-record 2,308 yards and 27 touchdowns. Pace is a dinosaur in that they still run that Pro-I, off-tackle veer all day long. And he just churned up the yards. Never saw him go backwards. When he hit the hole, he got at least five yards. He squared off against Escambia High's Danikeei Hollowell in a Week 6 showdown of the top two rushers in the state. He ran for 460+ yards and seven touchdowns in helping Pace secure the district title. After the game, Trent Richardson asked Quaide to take a picture with him.
He was our Offensive Player of the Year, beating out the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, who just so happened to shatter every record he set the previous year. Still, that's how big Weimerskirch's year was last year. He also beat out a receiver who signed with Mizzou for the Offensive POTY award.
He's a very physical runner, I think he looks like Eric ____erson when he runs. He doesn't have any idea what I'm talking about when I tell him that. I've seen him hurdle defenders without missing a beat. I've seen him run away from defensive backs who would normally dust him in a 40-yard dash. As his high school coach would say, he's just a football player.
My ONLY concern is wear and tear. His body took some abuse last year, but damn he kept on going. I think this year their QB will be better (actually a relative of the old Florida State quarterback Thad Busby) and they'll be more balanced. But he's definitely the real deal. I like that he picked the Cajuns. I told him tonight that'll earn him at least one or two additional features this year. LOL
I am not a big recruiting guy, but if QW would be considered a 4 star player, would he be the first 4 star recruited out of high school for the Cajuns? have we had a 5?
I am still waiting to see some linebackers on the board. We need them from 200 lb speedsters to 240 lb bulldozers. This is the toughest position to fill and we need to be two or three deep and in some sets we need 4 of them and in others we need a hybrid DE/LB and three others. This is what seperates a good defense from a great defense. We have signed some studs in the past and they rarely seem to make it onto campus. If we loss 2 or 3 to injurry this year, we could be in trouble.
Also, just so you know, cajunjeb, I was a 5star the day I set foot on campus. just ask the ladies!
I have a niece who is senior at Pace. Going to have to check out a game or two if it doesn't conflict with going to Cajuns games. Haven't been to one of the Pace games since my nephew was on team 3 years ago.
