  1. UL Basketball No excuses: Robert Lee addresses a frustrating season for Cajuns

When asked point-blank on Monday how he is dealing with a frustrating 2008-09 season, UL men's basketball coach Robert Lee responded with an honest answer during his weekly press conference.

Picked in the preseason to finish third in the Sun Belt's West Division, the Cajuns were coming off a 63-47 loss Saturday at Florida Atlantic. UL (7-14 overall, 4-6 Sun Belt) made only 2-of-38 attempts from 3-point range to suffer its 10th loss in the past 13 games.

The Cajuns are now tied for fourth in the division standings with eight games left in the regular season.

After reading the article, the title is deceiving. The article is full of excuses.

I don't see any. The information Josh Parrot included about injuries and lost playing time is either factual or it's not. Based on what I know I think it is all factual and I would question why, in his position, Parrott would make "excuses" anyway.

It doesn't appear Coach Lee made excuses but he apparantly did make reference to the missing players and the missed PT that Parrot thoroughly outlined.

Be that as it may, this isn't about facts or fiction any longer, it's about "W's & L's" and I feel sure Lee understands and accepts that as is his responsibility. He's never given any reason to believe differently.

If you thought the article was bad, try watching the press conference... That was a JOKE!!! You would think Lee would be a little more frustrated with his team and their play over the entire season. But from the looks of it, it's all FUN & GAMES!!!! Cutting jokes, laughing, just having a good ol time.... Keep the L's coming Rob, us Cajun fans really APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!

    No excuses?

    How about

    1. We can't shoot.
    2. We can't score in the paint.
    3. We can't play defense.

    Any more?

If Robert Lee was a no excuses guy, and if he loves UL as much has said he loves UL, then he would resign now and allow us to move forward. He must realize that he no longer has the support of the majority of the community. He must realize, looking at the current state of the team, that he is not doing a good job and that he is in over his head. Robert is not a dumb person; he's just not a very good basketball coach.

Robert, if you plan on keeping this job until you are fired you are simply a captain that is saying that the "ship can go down with you". It is time that you step aside so that our boys can have a chance to win, and the university will have a chance to get the community that loves UL basketball back behind OUR TEAM.
