Soon after Javone Lawson committed Sunday morning to sign with UL's football program, he sent a quick text message to his mother back in New Orleans.

"I told her to make sure she takes Saturdays off and to get all her Ragin' Cajuns stuff together," Lawson said. "Now I'm a Ragin' Cajun."

Lawson joined Pearl River tight end Jacob Maxwell as UL's other public commitment Sunday for its 2009 recruiting class. The Cajuns now have 17 public commitments going into National Signing Day on Wednesday.
