UL - Louisiana's Lady Cajuns opened up their 2009 home season with 4-0 loss against Troy. On a chilly and wet Sunday morning the Cajuns were unable to avoid starting the season 0-2.

The match began at Cajun Courts but rain forced the match to be delayed at 11:20 a.m. The match resumed at 3:30 but was moved inside and was played at Red's, a local fitness center in town. Since the match was moved to Red's, as soon as Troy took a 4-0 lead the meet was called and all matches were stopped.

Troy's Anabellere Bares opened up the scoring by beating Milou Israel in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

When the meet resumed Mia Gordon, Marina Ruiz de Gauna and Tara Vasovic were the three Cajuns to take the court.

Gordon lost in straight sets 6-1, 7-5. The second set was as thrilling as the score indicated.

Ruiz de Gauna lost in a three set match 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Vasovic lost in straight sets 7-6, 6-0.

Unfortunately the best match of the day between Rawia Elsisi and UL's Julie Mazinova was unable to be finished. The match was stopped with Mazinova leading one set to none.

"I am frustrated with the way the season has began, our results are not indicative of what this team is capable of," said head coach Tina Samara. She added, "We need to step up and re-commit ourselves, we are here to win matches."

The Lady Cajuns will be back in action Tuesday to face Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 3 p.m. at Cajun Courts.
