Roberson Suspension . . . and return

  In his pre-game radio show Thursday night, UL coach Robert Lee announced that guard/forward Lamar Roberson has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.

The 6-foot-8 junior from Baton Rouge did not sit on the bench with his teammates. Since playing a season-high 30 minutes in a win over Denver on Jan. 3, the UNLV transfer had played only 12 minutes in two games.

"Lamar is suspended from our team as of this moment," Lee said after the 79-71 overtime loss to Arkansas-Little Rock. "When or if he returns depends on Lamar Roberson."

_ Is Bureau playing, and what about Roberson, heard him and Gary had words, maybe a punch thrown r two... Man hope they pull together and play as a team... I picked some info on a previous post by someone... They made and interesting point, saying, that if you got three out of the five people on the floor with the green light, how will that work... IMO i dont think its a good thing, u need only one or two guys with the green light, because u need atleast 3 or 4 players looking to help the grenn light guy or guys get the ball... Two guys trying to free up the other three green light guys, will not work good... But if these green light guys are not all in at once, this could have some adavatage... _

We don't often have Bureau, Gradnigo, and Daigle in at one time so the green light for three guys thing is not a big problem.

  UL's roster returned to full strength Saturday as Lamar Roberson and Jeremy Barr both dressed out against South Alabama and entered the game in the second half.

Roberson, a transfer from UNLV, had been suspended indefinitely for the past week for conduct detrimental to the team. The guard/forward scored two points in six minutes of action.

Well I know when the news of Roberson's suspension came down most of you were thinking "this guy's a problems player" and "there's a reason he's been to more than one university." But I thought some of you should know why he was suspended. It may change you opinion of him or it may just clarify that he is in fact a "problem player." I'll give the abreviated version.

One of the current players told me that during practice one day the team was doing some drills. Roberson did something wrong and he and Coach Lee got into an arguement. The arguement was cut short when Roberson told Coach Lee that this team should be winning more games but they will never win games with a sh_ty coach like you!

WOW. I know you shouldn't disrespect your coach in anyway (i.e. McCoy / water bottle) but at least Roberson wasn't lying.....

He still should be more respectful to his coach and to this university. The game against UALR, he was standing in front of the student section, in his Ragin Cajun warmups, trying to pick up on the UALR womens basketball team, while the Cajuns were fighting to get a Win. I think that is unacceptable. Just my opinion.

First, that is not something you should tell your coach. If you are a respectable young man brought in to help a team win, you should have a certain level of respect for the coaches no matter what you think of them. I really don't care if it is true or not, there are better ways to convey your messages.

Also, I heard different about how he was suspended and it had nothing to do with practice.

Look, I'm not saying he shouldn't be frustrated. I'd feel angry if the players weren't frustrated. However, there is a respect a player should have for a coach and his staff. If you don't like the coach, you air out your problems in private. Just think about how you would react if a player acted this way towards you.
