Thread: Watch South Alabama's coach go nuts

I can say emphatically that the F-bomb was dropped. Anyone at the scorers table or anywhere near the scorers tble could hear it and if they deny it, they were at a different game than I was.

Also, the jerk chest-bumped a UL-Police officer and should have been charged with assaulting her. The only reason nothing was done, was that a bad situation would have been worse.

He and his assistant should have been tossed in the hoose-gow for the night to cool off. Definitely a Bobby Knight-type L O S E R of a human being!

South Alabama basketball coach Ronnie Arrow is taking some heat for getting heated with referee's after a last second loss to Louisiana.

The Jags took a one point lead with 2.4 seconds left Saturday night on Dominic Tilford's three-pointer. But the Ragin' Cajuns came right back and hit a shot at the buzzer from way downtown to win 67-65.

Arrow is convinced the shot didn't leave the players' hand until after the buzzer had sounded, which would mean it wouldn't count. But the play couldn't be reviewed because there is no court side monitor at the Cajundome. Arrow was beside himself that a Division 1 school wouldn't have a monitor. Click play to watch his meltdown.

News 5 contacted Arrow for comment, but the University said he is out of town on a recruiting trip.

You may find a player who might, in a very subtle manner, insinuate that they are not always in agreement with a team coach, but no player with two brain cells to rub together would state that his coach is a “cry baby” or that “he gets frustrated listening to him constantly whine during games.”

A rule of sport is that you always take the company line – a player takes up for his coach, and the coach takes up for his players. Once a player leaves a team you may find a few disgruntled players who don’t keep in line with their team, but being part of the team means you have each other’s backs.

I’ll go back to my original statement, and turn it back on our own team. Tell me the name of a player who bad mouths Coach Lee or any other coach and I’ll be happy to discuss with Coach what his players are saying in public. If the player admits to making the statements and is not severely disciplined there is a problem. If the player denies his statements then he totally destroys his credibility.

The question is, does HIS school have a court-side monitor? Cry more, coach.

The green screen to my understanding was to be in a commercial.

They should have arrested his @ss. On the video you can see the female UP try to subdue the coach and she backs up and yells don't touch me and another coach steps in between. He is lucky. I do agree that there should be monitors at ALL games, but the fact that it isn't an NCAA rule and that we didn't have them, bumping cops and dropping f-bombs isn't going to change anything.

I love how he drops the "kids" card on a UL official yet in the same sentence he drops an f-bomb. LOL Yeah coach, your setting a great example for the "kids" you coach.

I played 4 years of varsity soccer and when you are with coaches/players as much as you are when you're on a team, you get a family mentality. Although you go to battle with that "family", you still can see when someone is acting like an @ss. If someone would ask me what I thought of a teammates antics, i wouldn't lie. I'd say he's a puss and he whines a lot, but he's on my team. It's a hard point to get across but just cause you're on a team, it doesn't mean you have to get along/love each other/ eat dinner together/ etc....

I could totally see an athlete telling someone what they think of a coach that acts the way Arrow did sat. night. He was acting like an @ss hole and one of his players called him on it. The coach should apologize to his team and the University for acting the way he did.

With a microphone in front of them and video being recorded, sure...most will say the right thing or "no comment" it...

Players do not think that far ahead, where they consider what they are saying will be posted on a blog somewhere. Also, if a player is frustrated, because a coach made bad decision, made the team look bad, jumped all over a player, benched a player, or any number of other things that coaches do that do not exactly indear themselves to a player during a game, you can bet that they will let the loose tongue roll...it's human nature.

To prove my point, prior to watching the video link, you probably would have argued that no coach from the Sunbelt with two brain cells to rub together would publicly trash another institution's staff while being filmed, right? :-)
